MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - Fire officials say a pickup truck burst into flames outside the front door of a fast-food restaurant in Mason City.

The Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1GPj8qn ) the truck ignited around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday near the entrance to a Taco Bell restaurant. Authorities say wind fed the flames, which reached several feet above the truck’s engine compartment.

Mason City Fire Lt. Jon Anderson says the front of the truck caught fire minutes after the owner parked and went inside the restaurant. Customers and employees evacuated the area when they noticed the blaze.

Anderson says the building didn’t sustain heat or fire damage, although some smoke filtered inside.

Authorities say they’re unsure what caused the fire.
