LEESVILLE, La. (AP) - Statistics released by the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office show an overall decrease in major crimes in the area.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) the agency reported a decrease in thefts, burglaries and robberies in the parish for 2014.

Sheriff Sam Craft said he was pleased to see the decrease in those areas, which tend to be “very personal to people.”

The agency also reported one homicide, 69 sex crimes, 116 incidents of battery and 217 domestic disturbances.
