NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Tulane University will award honorary degrees to bestselling mystery writer Walter Mosley, philosopher and Parliament member Onora O’Neill and internationally renowned jurist Hein Kötz at this year’s commencement.

Tulane President Mike Fitts, in a news release Tuesday, said all three honorees have made “lasting contributions in helping us better understand the world and improve the human condition.”

Mosley will receive a doctorate of humane letters while O’Neill and Kotz will receive a doctorate of laws.

The May 16 ceremony will also include an address by keynote speaker, actress and comedienne Maya Rudolph.

The event is set for 9 a.m. in the Superdome.
