MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University has been awarded $453,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The grant is from the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Nearly $19 million is being awarded to universities around the U.S. to ensure a safe and nutritious food supply and as well as the development of antimicrobial resistance strategies.

The WVU grant is aimed at developing what the USDA says is innovative protein sources for a growing population.
