ALTON, Ill. (AP) - An Alton woman has been sentenced to 21 months in prison and must pay more than $100,000 in restitution in a bank fraud case authorities say targeted senior citizens.

Federal prosecutors in southern Illinois on Monday announced the sentence for 45-year-old Cynthia L. Palmer. She was previously convicted in a scheme to defraud and embezzle from U.S. Bank. She also must serve two years of supervised release.

Officials say Palmer made unauthorized debits on customer accounts while working at the U.S. Bank office at the Bethalto Airport.

The (Alton) Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/1IiOTZK ) that Palmer targeted victims between the ages of 65 to 96. U.S. Bank fired Palmer in December 2013 and compensated victims.
