WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A prosecutor says the shooting death of a man in Wilmington last week was justified.

A statement from New Hanover County District Attorney Ben David said that a review of the April 23 shooting death of 33-year-old Joshua Simpson shows it was self-defense.

David’s statement says no charges will be filed in Simpson’s death.

The release did not identify the person who fired the shots that killed Simpson outside a barber shop. He died at the scene.

The person who called 911 said he shot a man who had punched him in the face.
