ATLANTA (AP) - Police have arrested a Georgia man after they say he starved and abused his dog.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/1IinRli ) reports Gary Cornelius Scott was seen walking near a 2-year-old Doberman pinscher in Gwinnet County last week when a police supervisor noticed the animal was malnourished and attempted to catch it. A police spokesman says the female dog and had visible scars and blood on her abdomen.
Scott denied owning the dog and said he thought it belonged to a neighbor. The dog was taken into custody and animal control officials found she had a microchip and was registered to Scott.
Officials later found the dog weighed only 33 pounds.
Scott has been charged with cruelty to animals.
