QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - The Quincy airport in western Illinois is building a new taxiway to meet updated safety and design standards.

The taxi route at Quincy Regional-Baldwin Field Airport will be paid for with a $1.1 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin announced the grant Tuesday.

The Democrat said those kinds of infrastructure investments will boost the economy of western Illinois by supporting the region’s businesses and helping attract new ones.
