FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Fargo residents have decided to remove “acting” from the title of Acting Mayor Tim Mahoney.
The 65-year-old doctor easily won Tuesday’s mayoral election with more than 59 percent of the vote. Nearly 14,500 people cast ballots.
Mahoney had been challenged by 61-year-old businessman and former city commissioner Brad Wimmer.
Mahoney took over as acting mayor when then-Mayor Dennis Walaker died in December after a battle with kidney cancer. He will now finish out Walaker’s four-year term.
Wimmer lost to Walaker in last June’s election.
