NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - Officials in Nashua want to ban unauthorized use of the city seal.

City Clerk Paul Bergeron told the Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1HZvI8s) that outside groups who use the seal can mislead and confuse the public. He says the city asked a group called Nashua Alerts to stop using the seal on social media sites, but it has continued to use it on Twitter.

The Board of Alderman will consider a proposed ordinance next week that would define the seal as the property of the city and specify that in can only be used by the city, its officials and employees in an official capacity.

Violators would face a $100 fine for a first offense and $500 fines for subsequent offenses.
