COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say evidence indicates the deaths of a Colonial Heights couple were a murder-suicide.

State police say a Colonial Heights sheriff’s deputy found the bodies of 54-year-old Steven R. Rogers and his wife, 45-year-old Elizabeth F. Rogers, inside a residence on Tuesday. The deputy had gone to the residence for an eviction.

State police say a weapon was found inside the residence but didn’t provide details.

The Colonial Heights Police Department asked state police to investigate because of manpower constraints.

The bodies were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond.
