ELY, Minn. (AP) - Authorities say a 22-year-old central Minnesota woman was struck by a large tree that fell on her while she was riding an all-terrain vehicle.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened late Thursday afternoon as Amber Franks of Alexandria was riding an ATV along a trail in White Township. Officials say the tree was blown down by high winds.

Franks was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Her condition wasn’t immediately known as of Thursday night.

White Township is about five miles southwest of Aurora.
