KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 39-year-old Kansas City woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to stealing up to $1 million from her employer and failing to pay taxes on the ill-gotten income.

U.S. Attorney Tammy Dickinson says Jennifer Regans entered her plea Thursday to a federal information charging her with embezzlement by a bank employee and filing a false tax return.

Regans worked for Pioneer Services, the military banking division of MidCountry Bank in Kansas City, before being fired in July 2012 after the theft was discovered.

The fraud was discovered when the bank received a notice about a past-due corporate credit card Regans possessed. The accounting department noted that she had several apparent personal charges on the card.

Auditors said Regans had been making personal expenditures on the card since 2007.
