PLACERVILLE, Calif. (AP) - The remains of a man missing more than eight years and whose suspected killer sits in jail awaiting trial for his murder have been found in Northern California.

El Dorado County District Attorney Vern Pierson says Tobias Kaiser’s remains were unearthed last Friday.

The Sacramento Bee reported (https://bit.ly/19NALto) officials did not disclose the exact location where the remains were found.

Kaiser was last seen November 30, 2006, at his home in the city of Somerset.

Investigators in January arrested 47-year-old Eric Todd Mehlmauer of Placerville and 53-year-old Ronald Anthony Garcia of Sacramento in connection with Kaiser’s death.

A complaint filed in El Dorado Superior Court alleges that Mehlmauer shot and killed Kaiser. Garcia was arraigned on a charge of being an accessory after the fact.
