PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police say a state police detective who tried to stop an erratic driver watched the driver pull a U-turn and speed away, finally crashing into a southeast Portland storefront.

KATU-TV reports no one was hurt when the car crashed into a game store late Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Josh Brooks says the plainclothes detective in an unmarked patrol car suspected the driver of DUI and asked for help from Portland police. However, the detective decided to try to stop the vehicle himself as it became more erratic. When the detective turned on his emergency lights, the car took off.

The car driver fled on foot after the crash but the detective caught up with him and took him into custody with the help of arriving city police. The car driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
