STORM LAKE, Iowa (AP) - Officials say hydraulic oil that had leaked from a dredge in the Storm Lake marina area has been contained.

The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1aqlNed ) that city staffers discovered the leak around 7 a.m. Thursday. The Iowa Natural Resources Department says the 10 to 20 gallons of the vegetable-based oil was contained and collected by absorbent booms.

Department environmental specialist Julie Sievers says she doesn’t expect the leak to have a significant environmental impact because the oil was recovered so quickly.

A worker shut off an underwater valve to stop the leak, which occurred during routine maintenance after winter storage.
