BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Symphony Orchestra has announced concert dates for its upcoming European tour, its first with music director Andris Nelsons.

The 12-concert, eight-city tour starts Aug. 22 with the first of two concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The tour also includes dates in Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, and concludes in Berlin on Sept. 5.

The BSO will be joined on some dates by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Hakan Hardenberger on trumpet.

The repertoire includes Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10, Strauss’s “Ein Heldenleben,” Barber’s Second Essay for Orchestra, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 90.

It is the BSO’s first European tour since 2007.

Nelsons said in a statement he is looking forward bringing the BSO to “the enthusiastic and knowledgeable audiences in many of Europe’s wonderful concert halls.”
