CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged a 27-year-old man with stealing tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of old coins and antique firearms from an upstate New York home where he worked as a handyman.

Police in Cambridge in Washington County tell The Post-Star of Glens Falls (https://bit.ly/1JblFub ) that Jeremiah Beagle of Cambridge stole the items when the home was vacant for several months while the owner was out of town for the winter.

Police say Beagle stole a coin collection valued at $50,000, plus at least a dozen rifles and shotguns. He’s accused of selling many of the stolen items to buy drugs.

Beagle was charged with burglary. He’s being held in the county jail. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
