WASHINGTON (AP) - IBM’s Watson computing system will be making a visit to Washington for the Smithsonian’s “The Future is Here” Festival, and organizers plan to demonstrate a real hoverboard inspired by the movie “Back to the Future.”

Smithsonian magazine announced plans Thursday to stage its third annual future festival May 14-17. The four-day event highlights some of the newest thinking about science, technology and engineering from experts and visionaries.

The festival will open with a screening of “Back to the Future” at the National Museum of American History. This is the 30th anniversary of the film, and fittingly, 2015 is the future in the Michael J. Fox movie.

This year’s festival will feature Walter Isaacson, Cole Bolton of The Onion and numerous scientists, writers and technology experts.
