IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A radio host in the Iowa City area is getting a little help from his friends to offset medical costs from a recent liver transplant.

Family, friends and co-workers surrounded Tommy Lang, a host on radio station KCJJ, for a fundraising event Saturday that was expected to bring in a few thousand dollars. An online website has also raised more than $14,000.

The 41-year-old Lang received a liver transplant in March. In the process he incurred costs from medications, other procedures and hospital stays.

Lang says he is grateful for the support. The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (https://icp-c.com/1FcG7qN ) he is expected to be back on the air full time.
