GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing money out of bottled water machines in the Phoenix metropolitan area in recent months.

Glendale police say 29-year-old Fred Vaden and 33-year-old Veronica Barraza are being held on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage. It’s unclear if they have lawyers.

The two Buckeye residents allegedly were seen burglarizing a machine Friday.

Police say the suspects worked as a team and often sat in a parking lot where a Glacier Water vending machine was located and waited for the business to close.

They then allegedly cut into the machine, taking only the cash.

Police say there have been eight similar cases in Glendale since the start of this year and more than 50 other related incidents in Phoenix, Mesa, Surprise, Buckeye and Avondale.
