ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have released the names of people killed or injured in a crash on the Glenn Highway.

Police say 38-year-old Derek Monk and 25-year-old Thomas Kobel were pronounced dead at the scene of the Friday afternoon crash near the Eklutna exit.

Kobel’s wife, 21-year-old Lindie Kobel, was flown to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her condition was not immediately available Monday.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro says Lindie Kobel is an Air Force member based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Police say Monk’s 15-year-old son was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the crash occurred after Monk lost control of his Dodge Durango, which struck a vehicle, crossed over the median and hit a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Thomas Kobel.
