JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Belhaven University has signed with C Spire to provide high speed Internet service to its students.

The agreement was announced Monday in news release.

The offerings will include high definition television service, wireless phones, voice over IP phone service and dedicated high-speed fiber optic Internet access to the 400 full-time faculty and administration.

Belhaven President Roger Parrott says 700 students living in six residence halls on the Jackson campus will receive the one gigabit per second broadband Internet access and super HD TV service with dedicated DVRs in each residence hall room.

Brian Caraway, senior vice president of enterprise markets for C Spire says Belhaven is the first college in Mississippi to sign up for the service.

In Jackson, Caraway says five of 13 areas have reached pre-registration targets.
