STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) - A man accused of pulling a knife on a car salesperson during a test drive has been shot by police.

DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish says officers were pursuing a car that had been stolen from a DeKalb County dealership Monday afternoon. Parish says a man pulled a knife on the salesperson and ordered them out of the vehicle.

Parish says officers eventually spotted the white SUV and began chasing it into Gwinnett County. Parish says the driver rammed police cars that trailed him to a parking lot and drove toward officers who had gotten out of their vehicles, prompting the gunfire.

Parish says DeKalb County police are investigating the car theft. The GBI and Gwinnett County police are probing the officer-involved shooting.

The suspect’s identity hasn’t been released.
