ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque’s renovation of its convention center came in under budget though the work cost more than called for under original contracts.

The Albuquerque Journal (https://goo.gl/eYWwMt ) reports that city officials had anticipated that there might be unexpected costs and that it turns out additional time and money were required by conditions that resulted in changed plans and additional work.

The additional work cost $2.3 million on top of the $21.1 million allowed under original contracts. However, the new total of $23.3 million was well below the $25 million for the project

City chief operations officer Michael Riordan says the convention center renovation will increase bookings for events in downtown Albuquerque.
