LELAND, N.C. (AP) - Officials in Brunswick County have lifted evacuation orders for a community that was being threatened by a woods fire.

Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner confirmed to multiple media outlets that the evacuation orders were lifted shortly after 6 p.m. Monday for an area near Leland.

Garner had said two neighborhoods had been evacuated and that North Brunswick High School was opened to house evacuees before the order was lifted.

Officials with the N.C. Forestry Service say about 475 acres were burning. A fire line has been established, and tractors were setting up fire breaks. Three aircraft, including a helicopter, were helping to fight the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but officials say it is not a controlled burn.
