CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 6-year-old girl found unconscious at home in suburban New York.

Police say they responded to the Croton-on-Hudson home after receiving a call Sunday from the girl’s father that he couldn’t wake her up.

Detective Sgt. John Nikitopoulos says Lacey Carr’s mother also was found unconscious inside the Hastings Avenue house.

The mother, Kathleen Dymes, survived and remained hospitalized on Monday. Lacey was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The sergeant says there were no signs of trauma and the investigation was continuing.

He says the mother and child lived in the home of Lacey’s grandfather. They ruled out carbon monoxide because the grandfather, who was home at the time, was OK.
