PHOENIX (AP) - Students and staff at a north Phoenix high school spent more about two hours in the stands of the school’s football stadium while the Police Department’s bomb squad was summoned to check out a suspicious backpack.

Sgt. Trent Crump said the backpack found Monday morning in a bathroom at Barry Goldwater High School was found to contain books.

Deer Valley Unified School District spokeswoman Monica Allread said the school has an enrollment of nearly 1,800.
