BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Louisiana state trooper was injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into the back of the trooper’s SUV car on Interstate 12 while the trooper was investigating another crash.

Sgt. Nick Manale (muh-NAL’-ee) says the unidentified trooper was stopped on the shoulder of I-12 east near O’Neal Lane about 2:40 a.m. Sunday when an SUV driven by Magen Alicia Hall crashed into the back of his cruiser.

Manale says the trooper and Hall were both taken to a nearby hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Hall was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of careless operation and first-offense DWI. Hall was released Sunday on a $1,500 bond.

Jail officials couldn’t provide the name of a defense attorney to comment on the charges.
