TONOPAH, Nev. (AP) - A sheriff’s official says a 39-year-old man who had been sought on an assault with a weapon charge in San Antonio, Texas, was arrested and injured in a scuffle with sheriff’s deputies in a central Nevada town.

Nye County sheriff’s Sgt. David Boruchowitz (buh-ROOK’-uh-witz) said Jeremy Lee Puebla was arrested a little before 2 a.m. Sunday after he was stopped in Tonopah for speeding in an Infiniti G35.

Boruchowitz says Puebla tried to run, cut his arm trying to scale a 6-foot chain link fence and fought with deputies while being handcuffed.

The sheriff’s spokesman says Puebla received stitches at Nye Regional Medical Center and jailed in Tonopah pending a court appearance.

Tonopah is about 210 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
