BOYDEN, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say more than 1,000 hogs have died in a northwest Iowa blaze that ravaged a confinement building.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the fire occurred Saturday about three miles northwest of Boyden. No people were reported injured in the blaze.

The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1IDbkGP ) that six fire departments joined the sheriff’s office to extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No further information has been released.
