PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a man accused of running through a parking lot at a southeast Portland mall, swinging two small stolen axes at people, was taken into custody after he boarded a light rail train.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says officers and transit police coordinated with the transit agency to hold the train Monday afternoon at a platform where police were waiting.

Officers took the man into custody without incident and transported him to a hospital for a mental health and drug evaluation.

No one was hurt.
