LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) - A state trooper is being credited with rescuing three family members from a fire at their western New York home.

State police say Trooper Peter Morrissey was on road patrol late Sunday night in the Niagara County town of Lockport when he noticed a glow coming from the back of a house on Crosby Road.

Morrissey was able to get a couple and their grandchild out of the burning home before the flames spread quickly, causing extensive damage to the house and the garage.

No one was injured, but official say one of four dogs in the house was still missing.

Fire officials say the cause of the blaze is being investigated.
