SPRINGVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A pileup crash involving two dozen vehicles and a second crash later on led to the temporary closure of stretches of I-59 in Springville.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sgt. Steve Jarrett said the freeway’s northbound lanes were closed at mile marker 159 after the crash Monday afternoon.

Another northbound stretch of the freeway was closed at mile marker 156 when a car collided with an Alabama Department of Transportation truck that had been providing traffic control during the first crash. Details on the extent of the driver’s injuries weren’t immediately available.

Jarrett says the initial crash in Springville involved 24 vehicles and 10 injuries have been reported.
