MADISON, Wis. (AP) - An investigation has been launched into the death of an airman who was deployed in Japan with the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin National Guard.

A statement from the U.S. Air Force says Airman 1st Class Kelly Tomfohrde died Sunday after she fell from a fifth-story window.

The Air Force says the 22-year-old Tomfohrde was taken to the U.S. Navy Hospital Okinawa at Camp Foster, where she was pronounced dead.

She was a native of Auburndale, Wisconsin, and a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The statement says the cause of the incident is under investigation.

About 250 airmen from the 115th Fighter Wing’s 176th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron deployed to Okinawa in January to support a variety of operations, including disaster relief, anti-piracy and defense duties.
