SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) - Authorities are investigating vandalism discovered on Easter Sunday by six churches in Washoe County.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said there was graffiti discovered early Sunday morning.

Letters and symbols were used to deface the religious sites, including one in Spanish Springs and five in the Incline Village neighborhood on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

In Spanish Springs, a sign and wooden cross on Pyramid Way was vandalized and a decorative white cloth symbolic of the holiday was stolen.

The other churches were in Incline Village, on McCourry, Village and Northwood boulevards, Mount Rose Highway and Country Club Drive.

Officials are investigating but said the incidents so far have not been linked together, nor has it been categorized a hate crime.

FBI was notified because it involved religious sites.
