NEWARK, Ohio (AP) - A central Ohio man accused of starting a fire in a police station with a roll of toilet paper has been charged with aggravated arson.

Thirty-two-year-old Christos Bergados was charged in Licking County court Monday.

Court records say officers put Bergados in an interview room at the Newark police station after he arrived there with concerns regarding his mental state. The Advocate in Newark reports (https://ohne.ws/1IFscww ) that after an employee smelled burning, an officer entered the smoke-filled interview room and found a smoldering roll of toilet paper on the windowsill.

Police say Bergados was the last person in the room. Officers say he had a lighter when he was arrested a short time later.

A magistrate judge set bond for Bergados at $50,000. Court records list no attorney for him.
