NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Chris Christie has some chops in the kitchen.

The potential Republican presidential contender appears on the premier episode of NJTV’s new “Pasta & Politics” that debuts Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.

The show features host Nick Acocella preparing Italian food and talking politics with guests.

The pair cooked up a large serving of rigatoni Bolognese on the episode, which was shared with news outlets. Christie helped by slowly chopping celerity, carrots and pancetta.

The governor talked about how he often used to cook dinner and grocery shop early in his marriage and about family meals growing up. He said Sunday was usually pasta night, complete with “gravy,” not sauce.

Christie also joked that his bite-size bits are smaller than they used to be. The governor had weight-loss surgery in 2013.
