GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) - Police in Galesburg seized $635,000 in cash and 250 pounds of cannabis last year.

The (Galesburg) Register-Mail reports (https://bit.ly/1NNNdXm ) the department’s 2014 annual report indicates most of the drug interdictions occurred at the Amtrak train depot. Authorities also seized 10.4 grams of cocaine, one-tenth of one gram of heroin, and an SUV.

The seizures far outpaced 2013, when officers snatched $145,000 in cash, 69 pounds of marijuana, 28 grams of cocaine and three grams of heroin.

Police Chief Dave Christensen says his department is part of a law enforcement web hunting couriers smuggling drugs from Mexico and elsewhere.

Galesburg is 200 miles southwest of Chicago.

Police seized a 2004 GMC Yukon and 175 pounds of pot in February 2014 when a West Virginia man was stopped on Interstate 74.
