HOUSTON (AP) - Authorities say a Harris County deputy constable is on administrative leave following accusations that he sexually assaulted a woman he pulled over for a traffic stop.

The sheriff’s office issued a search warrant to look through the man’s patrol car and his personal belongings inside.

According to the warrant, the deputy constable last month pulled the woman over and arrested her for having marijuana. He then drove her in his car to another area, where he’s suspected of sexually assaulting her. The woman says she was later dropped off at a business and told to walk home.

Constable Ron Hickman says his office also is investigating the man for possibly mishandling drug evidence. The deputy constable wasn’t identified, because he hasn’t been charged with a crime.
