LAUGHLIN, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say a hotel guest who barricaded himself inside a casino hotel room had threatened to shoot anyone who forced him out.

Harrah’s casino-hotel in Laughlin called police around 1 p.m. Monday, reporting that security had tried to kick out the overstayed guest.

The man who refused to leave allegedly said he would shoot and kill the first person who walked in the room.

Las Vegas police said 58-year-old David Smith of California is now accused of assault with a deadly weapon and property damage.

The man was arrested around 5 p.m. after a police SWAT team with negotiators was called.

Police said he was hospitalized with self-inflicted injuries. He’s now being held at the Clark County jail.

The casino could not immediately provide comment.
