CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - About 370 New Hampshire Army National Guard soldiers are scheduled to head to the Middle East by the end of this month.

The members of the 3rd Battalion, 197th Field Artillery Regiment have been training at Fort Bliss, Texas.

The soldiers will be part of Operation Spartan Shield, an ongoing U.S. Army training mission. The battalion will conduct artillery-focused training engagements with allied nations.

It’s the first time a National Guard field artillery battalion has been activated to support the mission. The battalion went to Fort Bliss in February.
