SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say three teenagers broke into a northern Utah auto repair business and damaged 31 cars as they conducted their own demolition derby.

Authorities say the boys cut through a fence at the secure lot of the West Haven business late Thursday night, found keys in some of the cars and rammed the vehicles into each other.

Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Lane Findlay says the crashes caused at least $225,000 worth of damage.

Police say the teens aged 14 through 16 were caught after they returned to the scene with a total of four friends.

Findlay says the friends were cited for trespass. Prosecutors are weighing juvenile criminal charges including burglary, joyriding and criminal mischief against the other three teens.
