ECLECTIC, Ala. (AP) - The family of a Montgomery police officer killed in a collision with a semitrailer has established a scholarship fund in his memory.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1a0UkyD) that Officer David Colley’s family has established the David Colley Scholarship Fund, which will provide college scholarships to others. The fund was established at PrimeSouth Bank.

The funeral for 24-year-old officer will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Good Hope Baptist Church in Eclectic.

Montgomery Police Chief Ernest Finley said Colley was responding to a call around 6 a.m. Saturday when the collision happened.

The Birmingham station reports that Colley had been on the force two years and leaves behind a wife and a 1-year-old child.
