BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A man accused in a shooting in Billings last week is denying accusations that he punched a police officer in February.

The Billings Gazette (https://bit.ly/1c3J3iE ) reports that 26-year-old Nicholas Ellis Allison appeared in Yellowstone County District Court Monday. He pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of assault on a peace officer and drug possession charges.

Police say they were called to a report of three suspicious people at a West End casino in February and found a gun in Allison’s waistband. They say he ran away, struck an officer in the nose and began to reach into his waistband, leading officers to use a stun gun on him.

Allison is accused of shooting a man in the arm who tried to stop Allison from allegedly beating his girlfriend Wednesday.
