LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder has announced another change in his Cabinet early in his second term.

The Republican governor said Tuesday that Pat McPharlin will head the Department of Insurance and Financial Services, effective May 18. He replaces Ann Flood, who’s returning to the private sector after leading the department since October 2013.

McPharlin, of Laingsburg, served as CEO of the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union for 14 years.

Snyder says McPharlin has an “exemplary record” in the financial sector and credits Flood with working “tirelessly” to implement federal health insurance regulations and to protect consumers.

Since winning re-election, Snyder has named a new state treasurer, a new director of the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Department and has merged the Human Services and Community Health departments under one leader.
