OZARK, Ala. (AP) - A new chief has been named for the Ozark Fire Department.

The Dothan Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1Dfmvpl) that more than 20 members of the fire department showed up at Monday night’s city council meeting to show their support for Steve Sketo as he was named to the department’s top job.

Sketo, of Midland City, has been serving as the Ozark department’s interim chief since December, when Chief Greg Boutwell announced his retirement.

Sketo said he wants to implement several changes, including addressing maintenance issues with equipment and creating a program to help firefighters develop into “better, stronger individuals.”
