PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A state advisory board wants to provide archiving advice to South Dakota’s local historical societies this summer.

The South Dakota State Historical Records Advisory Board has received grant funding to provide advice to four repositories, organizations and historical societies in the state.

The board says the purpose of the visits is to address increased access to archival collections and to identify important historical records that are at risk.

In addition to the visits, the four organizations selected will receive $100 worth of archival processing supplies. The visits will not cost the organizations anything.

The board will make its selections on a competitive basis and will target small- to mid-sized organizations with archival collections.

Applications must be received by May 8.
