FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - The trial of a Taunton man charged in the killing of his father-in-law has been postponed by about a month.

The Taunton Daily Gazette (https://bit.ly/1Jkrd5K ) reports that jury selection in the murder trial of Richard Forbes was scheduled to start Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court but the Bristol district attorney’s office says it will now start May 4.

Prosecutors say Forbes hired two friends to help him kill 59-year-old Francis Douglas Carreiro.

Carreiro was found fatally shot in August 2010 in his half of the duplex he shared with his daughter and Forbes. Forbes has been held without bail since his arrest.

Forbes spoke highly of his father-in-law at the time of the death and said he thought Carreiro died of natural causes because he had been in poor health.
