NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - It’s time to take down those bird feeders so bears don’t get to them.

Fish and Game Bear Project Specialist Andrew Timmins says black bears are starting to wander from winter dens, in search of food. He tells The Telegraph of Nashua (https://bit.ly/1y0uJRL) that a bird feeder becomes “top priority” for hungry bears.

Chuck Hildreth in Mont Vernon said a black bear climbed onto his porch over the weekend and helped itself to a bird feeder stationed there.

He said the bear climbed several feet up onto his porch and bent the steel feeder post before going away.
